not so amazing

Quite sad. The second instalment of The Amazing Spiderman is relatively less amazing than the first. It is no doubt another blockbuster, you can tell the amount of capital invested in the film from the large-scale destructions of the infrastructures etc. The cameo appearance of Stan Lee is supposedly another plus point because probably no figure will be more prominent than him in a Marvel production but unfortunately not many people (including myself) can easily spot him. I like how the movie has a constant focus on the theme of time. The concept of the relationship between time and loss is portrayed via Richard Parker's speech in the video when he says he wished he had more time, and the fight between Spiderman and Green Goblin in the clock tower, where Gwen Stacy eventually dies. I am not sure if these are just coincidences but at least I kept seeing the links and I thought it is a smart connection. However, unfortunately, I think there are quite some loopholes here and there. Like how Electro is so destructive but you do not see a single person collapse onto the ground when he tries to destroy everything in town. Like how Peter Parker stays by Gwen Stacy's tomb at the cemetery through spring, autumn and winter but the news later reports that Spiderman has been missing for (only) five months. Unless, of course, I have understood the scenes wrongly. The movie plays with various techniques quite a bit, and I did not like that very much. The slow-mo, the repeated crane shots and those that follow Spiderman when he swings from buildings to buildings. Oh, and the jokes that the moviegoers did not really laugh at. Finally, I really think, they should find someone more charismatic to play Harry Osbourne. James Franco has set the benchmark!!!

So anyway, I had FIVE classes back to back today and midway I really wanted to raise the white flag because I was feeling so exhausted I needed to just rest. Well I pulled through!

Somehow something is wrong but I do not know what. And I do not know how. To deal with it. I am seriously contemplating professional help, I think.

It is 5 May, again.
Have a blessed birthday, my dearest sam :)

I'll never understand.

Some people, you try to break them before you build them. Some people, you are only remembered by them when they need your help. Some people, you spend time trying to change them only to realise you were never someone who could impact their lives. Some people, they hurt you so much but you know, they are just not worth it. So, don't bother. ASPIRE 2010 was a screwed yet another learning experience for me this time. I'd really like to thank my fellow peers for going through shit with me. And thank goodness that I believe in miracles. You never know what happens until the last minute, really. I never felt so shagged, and devastated about people.

All the small things.

So blonde Neo came with a packet of sushi and my chrysanthemum tea and Mr. Bean's pancakes. We continued to gorge ourselves with cones (actually just 2) of Cornetto which I bought to reward myself after a long time of not having eaten ice cream. We studied and also watched The Family Court. I really feel sad for AhWU that everyones hates his Leshan role but I guess he's right that actors and actresses like to see audiences' reactions towards their acting. What a breakthrough for him! Had supper with Shirl and Eh Chris! at somewhere nearby. Continued to study with Angie and we (or rather I) had a bad night because she was coughing quite badly. Blonde Neo I tell you, you better start drinking bottles of water when you get home today. NO MORE CHIPS!!! I'm watching you.... So anyway, in the morning we had Mac breakfast and Angie FINALLY invited me to her house wheeeeeeeee. Happening hor? Meeting the climates (Auntie Rainbow, Sunshine boy and Rain) later to celebrate mid-aut...
