Bury the past, embrace the new.

This post has been on my mind for the longest time, but I got to refrain from posting because it was not new year's eve yet. It is good to look back and think about all the things that have taken place.

January

I had probably one of the worst birthdays. And I guess this explains why all the more I do not like to celebrate birthdays. But still, I am thankful for those who remembered, and those who remembered that I really hate birthday cakes and birthday songs. If there is anything I can ask for in the coming year, I think I want handwritten birthday cards/letters from those whom I love.

February

Rahil left for Australia; frequent meet ups with friends whom I was almost losing touch with.

March

Slight change in perspectives of life because of Modern Chinese Literature module; release of Blue's new track "I Can".

April

AhWU won Best Lead Actor!

May

End of Year 2; TingHui graduated; work at Book Fair and knew a bunch of fun-loving friends; Eurovision and Blue came in 100th; Hong Kong trip with Mic and Lanhua.

June

Shengkai left for Melbourne; my love for X-Men returned because of the movie X-Men First Class.

July

Attended Fish's concert with best friends. I think that night was very unforgettable, the wound-healing songs, the company of two important people, the time spent together during and after the concert. I always have this warm and fuzzy feeling every time I think about that night. Thank you best friends!

August

Start of Year 3, made new friends. Attended Jacky's concert with my primary school best friend Shaun. It was probably the best concert ever, I really enjoyed myself tremendously and it was a childhood dream come true.

September

Alumni soccer tournament, probably the last time I would be doing this; seeing Sam again and talking again.

October

Seeing Blue for the first time after praying for it for 6 years; tough period for best friend but I am glad he pulled through.

November

Quality time spent with uni friends, badminton, dinner and simply mugging in the library.

December

Worked in the library, read 2 books, watched 2 movies, met friends whom I have not seen for some time; had one of the best Christmas.

I am gratified how I got tighter with my uni friends, because initially it was really a pain to do a major in CH, especially with no one I knew. These people really left me very good memories of studying together and the campus itself. And what I want to say is that I always thought 2011 was going to be very bad for me because things did not seem too good at the start of the year. However, things slowly picked up and I think life has really been very kind to me. The 3 wishes that came true in 2011 were: 1. AhWU won Best Lead Actor; 2. I finally attended Jacky Cheung's concert; 3. I finally saw Blue. Am I not lucky? Not to forget of course, I think I have a bunch of friends who helped me a lot during the last two semesters, be it academically or mentally. And there are also people who have always been there. Sometimes I really think I am stupid because I am loved by so many people but I do not seem to recognise that.

And so I have a message for you for being with me during times which we can now acknowledge as dire.

Last but not least, like I mentioned earlier, I made a resolution to be a better friend last year. I think I will keep this resolution for 2012, in fact I will try even harder to be a better friend to my friends. There is also one resolution I want to make for the coming year:

I want to be happy.

I think this is a bold resolution to make because I have always been more unhappy than happy, but this is precisely why I want to resolve to be happy. In the coming year, whatever happens, I want to try to be optimistic and happy in the face of all problems. Dear friends, please constantly remind me!
