Bestie.

Today I met my sec4 best friend for brunch. He is going to Melbourne for his further studies. In sec4, I didn't really have best friend except him. It was weird how we got to know each other. We said hi to each other one day at the bus stop and we became good friends. I know I was never his best friend but he had always been mine. All the heartaches, sorrows, he would let me confide in him. We drifted later because we were posted to different colleges. But he was still there when I was at my lowest. And then we drifted further after he entered army.

He used to do very stupid things.
He came all the way to the playground near my house to hear me rant for three hours just because I said "I am not happy."
He wrote me a very long message in my 18th birthday card and he said it was the longest message he had ever written.
He appeared in front of me immediately once when I called him and asked "Where are you?"
He let me use the pathetic umbrella while he ran in the rain when we were caught in the rain at Orchard Road.
He would ask me to text him when I reached home safely.
He always told me to stop calling him 'bestie' because he felt he wasn't a best friend to me.

People do drift, he used to say.
I guess that could really be the case, but I never forgot some words he ever said.

"Do properly close that chapter of your life with whatever you have to do and let go."
(It occurred to me that I have typed this in one of my blog entries in October 2007.)

I hugged him just now, with tears in my eyes. In my heart, I said, "Thank you".

Thank you for being one of the best things that ever happened to me, bestie.

I'll never understand.

Some people, you try to break them before you build them. Some people, you are only remembered by them when they need your help. Some people, you spend time trying to change them only to realise you were never someone who could impact their lives. Some people, they hurt you so much but you know, they are just not worth it. So, don't bother. ASPIRE 2010 was a screwed yet another learning experience for me this time. I'd really like to thank my fellow peers for going through shit with me. And thank goodness that I believe in miracles. You never know what happens until the last minute, really. I never felt so shagged, and devastated about people.

All the small things.

So blonde Neo came with a packet of sushi and my chrysanthemum tea and Mr. Bean's pancakes. We continued to gorge ourselves with cones (actually just 2) of Cornetto which I bought to reward myself after a long time of not having eaten ice cream. We studied and also watched The Family Court. I really feel sad for AhWU that everyones hates his Leshan role but I guess he's right that actors and actresses like to see audiences' reactions towards their acting. What a breakthrough for him! Had supper with Shirl and Eh Chris! at somewhere nearby. Continued to study with Angie and we (or rather I) had a bad night because she was coughing quite badly. Blonde Neo I tell you, you better start drinking bottles of water when you get home today. NO MORE CHIPS!!! I'm watching you.... So anyway, in the morning we had Mac breakfast and Angie FINALLY invited me to her house wheeeeeeeee. Happening hor? Meeting the climates (Auntie Rainbow, Sunshine boy and Rain) later to celebrate mid-aut...
