Genting trip.

Many people asked how my trip was and I thought this is probably the best avenue for you all to know more about my trip to Genting. (Sorry but I am lazy to keep replying all the same content! heehee). The content is going to be really long because it is my first overseas trip with my cousins and so I think I must record in details :)

Day 1
Without sleeping a wink at all, I headed for the place where we needed to board the bus to Genting with my family. Met up with my quadruplet cousins who were evidently so reluctant to go with us. They didn't speak a word to me and it was not like I really bothered to too. Occasionally I spoke a word or two to know what secondary schools they've applied for and issues like such. Their answers were always one-word or a shrug of the shoulders. In the bus, the two brothers sat behind my little sis and I. I could tell my sis was trying so hard to bond with them but apparently her eagerness to bond hadn't quite moved them yet. They were rolling their eyes all the time. During the toilet breaks, I tried many times to offer them all the sweets and chips but as always, they declined my offer all the time. I could however sense a slight change in their ever-so-sian attitude and they started talking to my sis more even though all the time they were saying "So lame", "Why you so childish one" etc. Oh ya, I met dear Sheena at a cafe at Malaysia! How nice :) We finally reached Genting and there were throngs of people waiting to check in. Aunt stuffed some notes into my hands and asked me to bring them around to eat and play. Frankly I felt so pressurized at that point because it was four 12-year-old kids + my sis (who never grows up) + my mum's friend's son and that made it 6 kids for me to take care of. On top of it I'm a noob at directions so if I ever got lost that would be 7 lost sheep. Thank goodness, we managed to make it to our destination safely (Genting isn't that big after all!). I got them tickets for the indoor theme park but with the queues everywhere, they only played 3 rides? Of course I didn't play because if I did, who would be their 'bag-rack'? And that was when I understood what my aunt meant when she said she was sick of carrying their bags. So with about 3 rides played, we headed for the hotel room to unpack our things before going for dinner. I guess the kids were shagged from the long bus ride earlier and so they asked to return to hotel room early that night. Though, they didn't turn in. They all gathered in my room and started jumping around, feeling a little too bored. I must say I am really thankful (even till now) for having brought the Monopoly Deal cards because they really enjoyed playing that (even though they kept claming it was lame initially). I don't know what time they got tired and left my room because I was dead beat and dozed off at 11. But it was a bad night and I hardly slept 5 hours. Why?

Day 2
I was supposed to sleep with the two sisters because my aunt wanted me to keep an eye on them. And so I did. Being the early birds they have always been, they got up at 6 and decided to go to my aunt's room since I couldn't entertain them as I was still asleep. And the two blur sisters forgot their room key so they started fighting outside the room and pointing fingers at each other. I bet they wanted to ring my doorbell but dared not, because I overheard their conversation the night before: "Can we not sleep with her? 她好像很恐怖". In the end they probably mustered enough courage and decided to knock on the door. I heard but I thought I was dreaming and so I ignored. So they rang my doorbell. I jumped up to open the door and one of them ran back to my aunt's room, afraid that I would blast at them. Cute hor? With everyone else still asleep, I, along with my aunt, went with them to have Mac breakfast which was more expensive than Singapore's (sorry the typical Singaporean mindset acting up again)! With a bloated tummy, we went back to hotel room to find my ever-so-kiddish sister who was still asleep at 10a.m. Once again, my aunt stuffed some cash into my bag and asked me to bring the kids out to play, and then she was dragged to the casino by my mum. This time, I had to purchase one ticket for myself too because if I hadn't, I wasn't allowed into the outdoor theme park. The spinner ride was the first. I had to carry their bags for them since nothing else but themselves was allowed for the ride. Then it was Mine Train. The seat was spacious and so I didn't have to carry their bags for them. That was my first and last ride throughout my trip there. The two brothers kept saying how thrilling it would be to sit in front, so I gave them the chance. But boys being boys, they said "never mind we give it to the girls" and went to sit behind me. When the mine train was going down, they were cursing and swearing. Right after the ride, they both said, "Very scary meh?" Interesting hor? Next was the Flump Ride, the boat that goes zooming down the steep slope and all the water splashes into the boat and makes everyone in it drenched. They didn't want to dirty and wet their jackets and so I had to carry for them while waiting for them to return. While waiting I was observing people, and I actually found it an interesting thing to do. Then it was Flying Dragon. They probably didn't see me smiling to myself all the time when we were queuing up for that. The reason for my grinning from ear to ear was because I was reminded of the multiple Flying Dragon rides with Ohana the last time I was there. It was real fun :) And then it was lunch at KFC which the kids enjoyed very much. We excitedly bought movie tickets after lunch, the kids had been wanting to watch movies there. "Bruce Lee My Brother" was not too bad but I thought it was more like a life story of Bruce Lee's father than Bruce himself. I wasn't that focused because throughout the movie I was checking to see if my cousins understood the movie, since it was in Cantonese. Thank goodness they did and quite liked it. Right after that, they went for Rapunzel while I went shopping with my mum and aunt. Shopping with mum is awesome because I never have to pay :D And then we went back to pick the kids who came out of the theatre on time. They really made me laugh. While I was so satisfied with Rapunzel the movie, the 4 kids had so many differing views.

1st: So boring.
2nd: Ok lor.
3rd: Very cute.
4th: Walao they kept singing and dancing leh.

We headed for dinner anyway. I liked my Thai fried rice even though it was just plain fried rice and egg. I brought the kids out to continue with the rides with Space Shot being the fast. The big brother of the four really amused me when he said, "you all go up, 我帮你们看住书包" when in actual fact he just didnt want to go that high up on the Space Shot. With someone like me who is so afraid of heights, I was in charge of taking care of things again and the big brother. And then it was a few other rides. At 9.45p.m., the outdoor theme park was closing and many rides were not operating anymore. The 4 kids could tell that my sis was so deprived of childhood and they accomodated her by degrading their thrill level to Jumbo the Elephant. It was quite cute. Finally, I could take a rest when they finally decided to head back to the hotel. My back was so stiff from the long hours of standing and carrying of bags. 要认老了!They came into my room once again to play Monopoly Deal cards while I enjoyed my cup of mocha from Starbucks! Thank goodness the kids were bushed that day and they left to sleep early. However, I didn't sleep well again because of the morning noises of my dear cousin banging the door many times and a man scolding his son outside.

Day 3
Pack my things and went to my aunt's room to watch the kids play my cards which they took from my room without my knowledge. Went to mum's room after that to help her pack things and made coffee for her and my sis. We checked out and headed for lunch at Happy Valley which was a considerably long walk from the hotel. And then it was a long wait before our bus to Singapore came. While waiting, I was walking around the place and the 4 kids followed me everywhere. I knew I had established sort of a 'sister' image :) The bus driver this time drove so fast especially when he was going downhill. An old lady vomitted quite badly and then the kids started feeling nauseous, myself too. Thank goodness some sweets that I bought saved all of us and with that, we all dozed off with the company of the brilliant rainy weather outside. As we were nearing the Malaysia custom, we talked more and played some finger guessing games. They actually agreed when I offered to bring them to the Bookfest! Last it was late dinner at the food centre my mum works at before heading for home.

On hindsight, I think it was overall a different family trip from the others because it's my first time going out of Singapore with my cousins whom I've always felt very stranger to. I've always boasted about my quadruplet cousins but matter-of-factly I never really knew them or anything about them. I must say that even though they always like to rebuke or roll their eyes or comment "so lame" on everything, they are still cute in some ways. This trip is also the only one that made my mum say that she enjoyed herself, probably because she has always hoped to see my cousins and us share a closer relationship. I could tell my cousins see me as an independent and knowledgeable figure and that was perhaps why they always came to me to ask questions. And so I tried to be as knowledgeable as I could so that I could uphold my image! I never quite believed I could take care of kids especially on a foreign land but thankfully they are all safe and sound and they enjoyed. I wonder too, if the kids (generally) at the theme parks actually thank their parents for helping them carrying their bags while they enjoy themselves tremendously? It is certainly not an easy task to carry bags and stand there for hours! (No I am not complaining) I actually look forward to more of such outings with my cousins and know them better, and then forge even closer ties. I'm trying.

Okay, time to crash for I've not slept well for 3 consecutive days.

I'll never understand.

Some people, you try to break them before you build them. Some people, you are only remembered by them when they need your help. Some people, you spend time trying to change them only to realise you were never someone who could impact their lives. Some people, they hurt you so much but you know, they are just not worth it. So, don't bother. ASPIRE 2010 was a screwed yet another learning experience for me this time. I'd really like to thank my fellow peers for going through shit with me. And thank goodness that I believe in miracles. You never know what happens until the last minute, really. I never felt so shagged, and devastated about people.

All the small things.

So blonde Neo came with a packet of sushi and my chrysanthemum tea and Mr. Bean's pancakes. We continued to gorge ourselves with cones (actually just 2) of Cornetto which I bought to reward myself after a long time of not having eaten ice cream. We studied and also watched The Family Court. I really feel sad for AhWU that everyones hates his Leshan role but I guess he's right that actors and actresses like to see audiences' reactions towards their acting. What a breakthrough for him! Had supper with Shirl and Eh Chris! at somewhere nearby. Continued to study with Angie and we (or rather I) had a bad night because she was coughing quite badly. Blonde Neo I tell you, you better start drinking bottles of water when you get home today. NO MORE CHIPS!!! I'm watching you.... So anyway, in the morning we had Mac breakfast and Angie FINALLY invited me to her house wheeeeeeeee. Happening hor? Meeting the climates (Auntie Rainbow, Sunshine boy and Rain) later to celebrate mid-aut...
